Product Details.
The Magpul PRS2 (Precision Rifle/Sniper) – G3 Model is a drop-in, precision-adjustable butt stock especially designed for the HK G3/91 rifle and its variants. Designed to offer the fine-tuned, customized feel of a precision target stock, the PRS2 is adjustable for both cheek riser height and length-of-pull without sacrificing the durability necessary to withstand the operational environment.
Compared to common plastic fixed stocks, the PRS2 has a similar minimum LOP but can extend up to 1.25" longer. Machined aluminum adjustment knobs feature positive-locking click detents to maintain position under recoil and allows easy, tool-less adjustments by simply rotating the knobs. Machined aluminum butt-plate and alloy steel adjustment shafts provide stability and strength to withstand severe impact conditions. Rubber butt-pad offers positive shoulder purchase to prevent slippage for optimal accuracy even with body armor or modular gear. Stronger and heavier than most OEM stocks, the PRS2 also adds benefical weight to the rear of normally nose-heavy G3/91 rifles.

NOTE: The PRS2 is a direct replacement for any 7.62x51 HK variant that has a factory fixed-stock steel backplate and standard buffer (NOT compatible with the HK heavy buffer). Compatible models include: HK91, HK93, HKG3, HK33, and SR9. Installs easily with factory buffer screw if so equipped and the included hardware.

My Father recently bought a PTR-91 that came with the TAPCO collapsible "M4 type" stock. He doesnt care for the stock too much when it comes to recoil and cheek-weld/comfort.

Editedin: In the meantime while he's still got the Tapco, he could add one of these on for more comfort. I've got one on mine and with it it's much more comfortable in the shoulder and the recoil is lighter felt. There made by lots of companies and sold at other places beside Tapco.

When setting up the truck gun project, I purchased two aftermarket stock options. The first was a Choate folding stock, The second and much more expensive was a German Military telescoping stock. If you notice, this version has a larger than “normal” butt-plate.
Not being a expert HK guy or milsurp collector, I can’t actually specify what the names or models are for these stocks. But reading on the internet, there seems to be a strong dislike for the military telescoping format. The main complaint is how small the surface area of the butt plate is. But I did notice that there are TWO options here. And so I did spend the extra cash to grab this when I saw it.
When running some drills and shooting in unconventional positions, once or twice I crawled up on the Choate stock and made contact with my mouth against the rear of the rifle. Not the most pleasant feeling. Yes, when I get time, I will add a few more spacers to the Choate and increase the length of pull.
But in the meantime, I will switch to the longer milsurp stock. Special note, I will probably be adding a Bushnell TRS-25 to В the PTR. The current RDS is an old gun-show mystery scope just to test cheek weld В / eye relief.

Are either of these better at the end of the day, than the stock buttstock? I find my PTR comfortable, but would like the option to make it more compact…although it doesn’t look like any of the folders do much to that end. I saw what I presume to be a new PTR recently. A true truck gun, no stock, short barrel. I may have to look into it. Around $1100.
The “Sportsman’s Guide” is running a special on the “C-93” from Century Arms for about $475.-, it is not a PTR91/G3… but it will still put .308 rounds down range at an acceptable minute-of-man level of accuracy. I have thought about picking one up just to have a semi auto .308 beater that I do not have to drop a grand into. The looks are close, and from what I have seen and read about it, I think it would be a fun beater/truck gun with many components being interchangeable.
Is the 93 the 556 or 308? I have been thinking about the 556 just for the cool factor. That and NOT having to pay HK prices for a 53.
I need to say sorry… I got my models confused! Sportsman’s Guide is offering the “C308”, not the C-93. But to answer your question Markey… yes the C93 is in 556, Doh! I have not seen the 93 available for a bit, and I do not know when they will have them again, or how much they may cost. But one thing I am pretty sure of, they are still going to weigh just as much as the .308 rifles! Over 8 pounds… Ooof!
No big deal. You just cost me money. I wanted one of those C-93’s for a bit and forgot about it. Now you have put it back in my mind!
Well, if I am going to be costing you money I might as well go full Jodie on you and ask if I can shoot it when you do get one!
The factory fixed is lightyears better in comfort and function.
